Jennifer Marti MD FACS is a dual fellowship-trained surgeon specializing in breast & endocrine surgery. Following medical school and general surgery residency at New York University School of Medicine, she completed advanced surgical fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Yale. She practices at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York, NY, and is Site Director of Breast & Endocrine Surgery at NYP/Lower Manhattan Hospital.
Dr Marti specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant disorders of the breast, thyroid & parathyroid glands. These conditions include breast cancer, breast lumps, breast pain, hyperparathyroidism, hyperthyroidism (Graves disease, toxic multinodular goiter, solitary toxic adenoma), thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, paragangliomas, and carotid body tumors. She has expertise in lumpectomy, mastectomy, nipple-sparing mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, minimally invasive parathyroidectomy, thyroidectomy, central compartment lymph node dissection, and modified radical neck dissection. The Veracyte Afirma gene expression classifier (GEC) and Thyroseq v2 is available for indeterminate nodules, to decrease the rate of unnecessary diagnostic thyroidectomy. Active surveillance (observation) may be offered to selected patients with small papillary thyroid cancers.
Dr Marti's clinical research interests include outcomes research in the surgical management of endocrine disorders, outcomes research in thyroid cancer, and prospective studies of new diagnostic technologies in optimizing breast cancer care. She has presented at national meetings, and published in peer reviewed journals in endocrine and breast surgery.
